Batch Bakehouse
At Batch Bakehouse we make bread and pastry the old-fashioned way: before dawn, from scratch, using only the finest ingredients, each piece carefully crafted by hand. We specialize in croissants & pastries, French baguettes & artisanal loaf breads. Every day our pastry chefs fill our case with a wide variety of sweet and savory treats: croissants, cookies, cakes, pies, tarts, bars, brownies, galettes, biscuits, tea cakes, shortbread stacked sandwich cookies, individual quiche; the list is almost endless. We also offer Coffee and teas, and have eat-in seating along our window bar.

[bayk] MADISON sells babka in chocolate hazelnut, cinnamon streusel and sticky pecan caramel flavors, plus a “babka of the month” choice such as blueberry lemon crumb, and a lengthy list of about 30 other flavors! Although most folks associate these filling-rich breads with sweet and nut flavors, we also make them in savoury choices.
As of June 2021, [bayk]’s BABKA are sold at Brennan’s Market, the Monroe Street Farmers’ Market, [bayk] shop pickup, shipped or delivered. Retail [bayk] shop hours have been added. Wholesale expansion is in the works! |
Cargo Coffee East
Cargo Coffee is a family owned coffee shop in Madison, Wisconsin. We roast our own coffee weekly, serve a variety of pastries, and have a fresh made to order food menu. We also have beer and wine.

In response to the pandemic, Mother Fool's Coffeehouse has added a line of grocery and household items, in addition to a city-wide delivery service. Coffee, grocery and local art are at the center of our efforts to serve our community.

Nature's Bakery Cooperative
A worker-owned and managed co-op specializing in organic whole grains, Nature’s Bakery offers a variety of vegetarian and vegan organic whole grain baked goods, including sliced bread, pita, granola, burgers, calzones, essene bread, wheat-free flat bread, trail mix and cookies. Please note, their storefront is no longer open to the public.

ORIGIN Breads
ORIGIN Breads is a small bakery in Madison, WI. Owner and baker, Kirk Smock, is slowly building this business on the experience of 11 years of ardent home baking. His baking obsession began in 2005 while living in Guyana and his fermentation and baking skills were fine-tuned while living in Mozambique. What began as a one-man show now also includes a couple of additional bakers who are essential to daily operations. Wholesale also available.
